Kiwi Atheists are far too nice.

For the benefit of overseas readers, and to bring some context to this article, this is one of the highly visible ‘Yeah Right’ billboards/signs, marketed by DB Breweries here in New Zealand:

Now as far as I’m aware there has never been a deliberate piece of vandalism in New Zealand by atheists targeting ‘you are going to burn in hell’ signs like this - or for that matter any religious signage.

Christian Churches such as ‘Bethlehem Community’ tend to forget, that Atheists by their very nature, don’t believe in their megalomaniacal and cruel god called Yahweh.

So local non-believers are hardly going to fall to their knees with fear, at the altar of this, or any church, when confronted with thinly veiled threats of Yahweh’s wrath.

Frankly most Kiwi atheists don’t give a fuck about church signs and ignore simply them.

What up-sets Kiwi atheists, myself included, is when ‘we’ unify as a group and want to place our own signs on public display, we face overwhelming objections to our right to free-speech – by the very group that trumpets their own supreme right to do so – even when it breaks copyright laws.

Christians see it as their right to say what-ever they like, hate minority groups via law exemptions etc but when they feel threatened they get cry-baby-like and gnash-teeth when presented with a counter arguments.

Christians in New Zealand then do what all religious groups do when threatened – they attack!

Christians even attack other Christian messages, as we saw occur in Auckland at Christmas, again over church signage.

Christians threatened those that would air the atheist signs – which just happen to be the local bus companies – forcing them to back down from their commitment to display the same signs that were run overseas.

So here we have Reverend Jim Wallace from Bethlehem Community Church now accusing DB Breweries of being “bullies” when they asked for the sign to be changed due to breech of copyright.

On the Radio Live interview this morning Reverend Wallace used the term “bully” no less than three times in two minutes and ironically drew-comparisions with the atheist bus campaign - which never got off the ground.

Well Reverend Wallace here’s a message for you.

Were the atheists of New Zealand to act in the same dogmatic, angry way the followers of your god behave – then your juvenile sign would have been ripped-down long ago.

You need to thank your vicious and cruel god, that thankfully Kiwi Atheists are more civilized and nicer people than his followers.

The Sordid Life of ‘The World’s Greatest Atheist’

Yesterdays Christchurch Press ran an article entitled ‘The Greatest Atheist on Earth’ to publicise the impending arrival in town of one: Richard Dawkins – here to promote his latest book ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ - the week after next.

As the world’s greatest-known-living person espousing the virtues of living-a-life without belief in gods and the absurdity & dangers of religion, Dawkins must naturally by right, display in abundance all the attributes attributed to atheists.

That’s to say he’s must be an ungodly low-life in need of saving himself from himself.

One would expect the life of Planet Earths Greatest Atheist to be littered with ribald tales of his personal life, drug abuse, violence, brushes with the law etc.

But instead anyone who knows anything about Dawkins knows he is man of integrity and a powerhouse intellectual.

There is no dirt on Dawkins – no scandal.

In particular there’s nothing in his past to titillate the tabloids and for theists to scorn.

The World’s Greatest Atheist is instead a role model - a man whose intellect and contribution to the betterment of mankind’s knowledge is something to envy & behold.

His work in the field of evolutionary biology & evolutionary psychology makes him a world leader.

Here’s something for you to ponder.......

Over the entire history of mankind - name me one Church leader that has contributed to the knowledge of where we as humans came from & what makes us human - in same manner and with the same veracity as Richard Dawkins?

So exactly how do Kiwi Atheists think and act?

This morning on the way to work, I came across a young-lady cyclist with a puncture.

Being a cyclist myself there is nothing worst than being left stranded, or having to walk any distance in cycle-shoes.

So I threw her racing-bike in the boot, rear wheel in the back seat, and off we went.

As it turned-out she worked only 500 metres from where I was heading, so it was no big deal.

The young lady was extremely thankful of the ride and me getting her to work on time, and as the conversation progressed she asked me why I picked her-up? To which I replied “One day that could be me on the side of the road and I’d like to think someone would assist me”.

Then from left-field she piped-up with “Oh I thought you were a Christian”.

Well as you can imagine, this statement bought forth raucous laughter and great merriment from a godless, heathen like me.

“I’m a rabid atheist” I replied forthrightly, trying to keep the car straight, tears of laughter still welting in my eyes.

“What could have made you presume I’m a Christian?”

“Well there’s a Church service leaflet on your floor”.

The penny then dropped.

She was a Christian, and naturally believed I was one too.

The presumption was in her mind - only a Christian could be nice to a stranger.

“Nah I said, that’s from my son’s choir on Sunday and he’s another non-believer as well”.

So to any Christians reading this, I’d be interested in your feedback on this scenario.

Do you think a Christian is more likely to act in a charitable way than an Atheist?

Onward Christian Terrorists.

For those unfamiliar with the recent events, it would pay to take a look at this report.

It appears New Zealand has suffered its first ideologically driven act of internal terrorism.

But because the attackers were acting on behalf of Jesus as opposed to say Allah, the peace-nic angle to the attack, will be what the media feeds the public.

All you'll read and hear about will be ‘peace activists’ not ‘home grown Christian terrorists’.

Why so?

The spokesperson for the Aotearoa Ploughshares (the motley leftist group behind the attack) states brazenly “according to the activists they felt they were just being faithful as to how they understand the Gospels and their faith in terms of peace-making and following Jesus”.

That’s identical banter to those grainy videos Islamic terrorists submit to Al Jazeera.

Their religion not only justifies their acts, it was the foundation of them.

Immediately after setting the Kiwi taxpayer back a million bucks with their wanton vandalism, the group built a shrine and knelt in prayer to remember the people killed by United States military activity. Hardly surprisingly, no prayers appeared to have been offered to the victims of al-Qaeda.

Let’s not forget the last audible cockpit voice recordings on September 11th were “god is great” , so drawing divine inspiration before/after attacks is ‘par for the course’ with these zealots.

The job description of Peter Murnane, one of the three terrorists, is Dominican friar.

What would have happened if the same attack was undertaken by a Mullah Mohammed Omar rather than a Friar Murnane?

Would an Islamic clergyman and his associates get away with a plea “we're peace activists, not a terrorists”?

Would the media give three people of Islamic faith such an easy ride, were they to have attacked the same Government facility under indentical circumstances?

Naturally anyone of middle-eastern extraction would be branded terrorists.

And that's what these three guys are - terrorists first, activists second.

Christian Only Refugees

God botherer, one time Financial Administrator for the N.Z Catholic Church, elected United Future list member, and now independent MP, Gordon Copeland, is attempting to use his last days in Parliament in a futile attempt to grant further privileges, for those who choose Christianity as their superstition of choice.

Rather than worry about the 100 Kiwi’s crossing the ditch every day, Copeland wants the secular N.Z Government to grant exemptions (read special privileges) to asylum seekers who profess to be Christians and claim to be under some threat were they returned home.

His Press Release of the 17th April 2008, is headed ‘Copeland seeks moratorium on deportation of Christians’ & reads:

Independent MP Gordon Copeland today utilised a Parliamentary Question to enter a plea with the Minister of Immigration on behalf of Iranian asylum seekers, who convert to Christianity.

“Following the introduction of legislation in Iran mandating the death penalty for apostates from Islam, there can now be no doubt at all that the deportation of such converts is a death sentence,” said Mr Copeland.

“In the light of that reality, the Dutch, British, Canadian, and Australian Governments have stopped deportation to Iran and New Zealand should, in my view, do the same.”

“This country’s foundations are based upon liberty of conscience and freedom of religion, including the freedom to change one’s religion. We abolished the death penalty about 40 years ago and its application anywhere in the world is abhorrent to New Zealanders.”

“In these circumstances it is simply unconscionable to continue deportation.”

Mr Copeland has said that any claim to Christian conversion needs to be genuine and able to be authenticated by clergy or other pastoral workers in testimony before the Refugee Status Appeals Authority. However, should testimony provided in that manner affirm that the conversion is genuine, then it should be accepted and asylum granted to the claimant.

“At the end of the day, there is simply no option in the matter and I would rather see the benefit of the doubt extended to the asylum seeker than take the risk of discovering later that we have sent a person back to their death in Iran.”

Apparently Copeland’s crocodile teared cry for “freedom of religion” did not extend to other faiths.

If Copeland got his way converted Bahá'ís arriving into the N.Z would be returned to face their fates. Iran is of course is both the cradle of the Bahai’s religion and it’s followers form the countries largest religious minority & have endured persecution for centuries under successive regimes.

But of course Copeland is only interested in Christian refugees.

So Refugees from other converted faiths, plus those dreaded atheists, would be on the first plane out of New Zealand, were he to have his way.

The other question that comes to mind is - who would qualify as a Christian?

The Refugee Status Appeals Authority could face arguments that a non-monotheist Coptic Egyptian was not infact a follower of Jesus and therefore would not qualify for Copelands rigid rules as who was a Christian and who wasn’t.

Problems abound, not to mention the fact Refugee Status Authority would be granting an exemption based on religion and it's independence would be called into question.

This isn’t the first time Copeland has wanted a say as to who can come into the country, and who can’t. In 2006 he approached The Minister Of Immigration (David Cunliffe) in an attempt to frustrate Australian euthanasia-activist Philip Nitschkes attempts to settle in N.Z.

No prize for guessing Mr Nitschkes point of view on the terminally ill differs from Mr Copelands, and that was good enough for Gordon to partition the authorities (including visits to The N.Z Police at one stage) to get him banned.

Copeland’s ‘Christians Only Refugee’ proposal is of course patently ludicrous.

Asylum seekers, would seize upon this window of opportunity to covert, as an easy path to follow to gain residency. Of this there is little doubt.

They would be quoting Bible passges to the cow’s come home and whole chapters of L.Ron Hubbards ‘Diagenics’ verbatim if it lead to citizenship in godzone.

The sooner the tax-payers of New Zealand see the back of this ‘lame duck’ MP the better.

PS; Would someone kindly tell Gordon, the most Christian nation on the planet, is one of the last in the Western World, to still practice the "abhorrent" death penalty he deplores.
