In an individual context, exactly what ‘event’ would signal an ‘end of faith occurrence’ for your garden variety Catholic?
From my readings & debates on other blogs , the latest, and largest child-abuse scandal of all in Ireland, indicates practicing Catholics are hardened & dismissive of such crisis.
Their defense mechanisms are well honed, like the predatory skills of the pedophile priests, and the high-priced lawyers only a mega-rich organisation like The Catholic Church can afford to hire.
This is more than ‘Catholic block’.
It actually shows a deep vein of callousness, exists within those indoctrinated to follow Rome’s teachings.
The cruel side, to Catholicism comes to the surface, for all to see, every-time we see the under-belly of Catholic faith is exposed, as in Ireland.
Rather than lambast the perpetrators of such vile organised crime, we see Catholics in unison trot-out the same pre-scripted excuses, to defend the indefensible.
“It was only a few rogue priests”.
“I had a Catholic education and nothing happened to me”.
Now where have, I heard those sort of excuses before, hmmm let me think?
“Islam is the religion of Peace”
“Not all Muslims are terrorists”
The major difference in the analogies being: it's only the Catholic priesthood, who prey on it's ranks for sexual gratification.
In all of these panderings, the innate need to come-up with excuses, not one thought for the thousands of victims.
Not one piece of compassion.
Faith over-rides common bounds of decency.
So back to my first premise - what sort of event, needs to happen before an individual Catholic, would renounce their faith in disgust?
My answer or theory, is: such is the ingrained concept of absolution programmed into their minds, an individual would need to suffer personally at the hands of The Mother Church, before they would wake-up to its dark-side.
Clearly 35,000 victims is not enough to even solicit a “sorry” from the leader of their chosen religion – so why would you expect a follower in a remote country like New Zealand, to care any-more about child-rape, starvation etc, than Herr Pope?
1.0 Billion people are happy to belong to a group that shields, houses and feeds pedophiles and every Sunday, they share communion with others who fail to see this as being 'wrong'.
They are blinded to the fact, having a docile flock, educated from day they were born to be unquestioning, cloistered communities of men without a sexual outlet etc – is exactly the very breading ground child-abusers exploit.
Every Catholic is an integral part of the cycle of church child-abuse.
The truly sad thing in all of this, is the world’s largest group, that brands itself as being 'Christian' - doesn’t care.
In a grand-irony, it's now left to humanists like you & me, to crusade for morals and justice, if this cycle of Catholic child-abuse is to stop.

I Love Bill Maher and yes this is all so true, sadly very sadly true and people wonder why I'm skeptical of any organization.
Does the reality of the Mei Lei massacre prove that all Americans are lawless murderers of the innocent unarmed?
Since Catholic priests are accused of about 1.5% of all child sexual abuse, do you have even the slightest curiosity about the other 98.5%?
Are you prepared to state that 100% of all accusations are not frivolous?
Or would admitting these realities deflate your baloon too far?
You give atheism a bad name because not every atheist is an anti-clerical bigot.
Hi there,
Sorry to be honest, I have no ‘curiosity’ to get close to any Catholic Priest.
Whether these affections are mutual, you would be better placed than me to answer, once you get off your knees that is.
Or were, you simply an ugly child and missed-out on all the ‘bum-fun’ the other boys had?
Thanks for your kind remarks, they just go to prove everything I stated is true.
Paul.
Well said Paul. In business terms their brand is fucked, completely discredited, or at least you would think so. Any other corporation in the world like McDonalds would be out of business thru a dramatic loss of customers.
Giving up a Big Mac might hurt; ...alot, but it would cost the boycotter very little in real terms, so they would see beyond their own selfish needs and punish Ronald for his perversions. Not so the customers of Rome, because they've amassed a huge number of afterlife loyalty points and they ain't pissing them away, on some squealing 5 year old sluts.
The selfishness of the flock, is what enables the scum that run this criminal organisation to treat all and sundry with complete contempt.
LOL Orion (my fav constellation BTW) They could always go to Burger King.
I distrust large organizations like the Catholic Church... to many possibilities of corruption. I don't think every Catholic is bad, just that it only takes a few to taint the well IMO.
